Wildlife Species Identification
All research questions pertaining to the identification of individual terrestrial Invertebrate, Bird, Mammal, Reptile & Amphibian species are presented. Each topic is explained and includes a status bar, research dates, PDF download (where applicable) & website button/s link (where applicable). The majority of research is ongoing and will take multiple years to complete. If you are an ecologist, postgraduate/graduate student or have an deep interest in Capo Testa & would like to assist in survey work please feel free to get in Contact & chose area/s of preference. The research codes (e.g. A1) relate to the Research Project Questions section at the bottom of the About page.

*Notes: Field-work is ongoing with specialist identification required for some Endemic species. The Primary-Focus group has been chosen due to importance in Food-web dynamics (Dermaptera), pollination of angiosperms (Heteroptera & Anthophila) & indication of ecosystem mid-trophic health (Araneae).
F10: Identification of 'Secondary-Focus Invertebrate Group' species (terrestrial), in the Valle Della Luna Research Area & Capo Testa SAC. (SECONDARY FOCUS INVERTEBRATE IDENTIFICATION). Through literature review & field-surveys, to include:
-
Lepidoptera (Moths & Butterflies).
-
Diptera - Syrhidae (Hoverflies).
-
Coleoptera (Beetles).
-

*Notes: Field-work is ongoing with specialist field-techniques required for some species (e.g. Moths) & specialist identification for certain species (Coleoptera & Syrphidae). The Secondary-Focus group has been chosen due to pollination of angiosperms & endemism (Lepidoptera & Syrphidae) & ecosystem interactions (Coleoptera & Dictyoptera).
F11: Identification of 'Tertiary-Focus Invertebrate Group' species (terrestrial), in the Valle Della Luna Research Area & Capo Testa SAC. (TERTIARY FOCUS INVERTEBRATE IDENTIFICATION). Through literature review & field-surveys, to include:
